Tyco Security Products has unveiled a unified video solution that provides dual, integrated support for IP and analog cameras. The product, dubbed victor, permits users to manage IP and analog cameras from one interface, providing a more gradual transition to digital by avoiding an immediate analog "rip and replace."

The victor system, unveiled today at the 2010 ASIS International Seminar and Exhibits in Dallas, works with Tyco's American Dynamics line of VideoEdge NVRs and Intellex DVRs, and their associated cameras.

The system, however, will be the foundation for Tyco's plan to provide a path to integrating video with other security applications, such as access control, intrusion, fire and more, from a single, intuitive interface, said David Jackson, senior product manager for NVRs, video analytics and clients. Jackson ultimately sees victor evolving into a scalable physical security information management (PSIM) solution.

On its initial release, victor will support simultaneous display of H.264, ACC, MJPEG, MPEG-4 feeds. It will also feature integrated motion analytics enabling rapid post-event searches for forensic analysis. Users can switch the layout of the system to meet specific needs and situations, such as evacuation layout in the event of a tornado warning.

Tyco's victor will begin shipping at the end of October, Jackson said.
